The AI-Cited Media feature in the AI PR Toolkit helps discover which media outlets are cited most frequently within your chosen context. Knowing which outlets are worth pitching is the first step to effective outreach targeting.
How to use the AI-cited Media Finder
- Go to the AI-Cited Media tab in the left-hand menu.
- Enter one or more topics of interest in the search box, but stick to one theme.
Remember to be specific to get more focused results, e.g., instead of “shoes”, search for “eco-friendly shoe brands”.
- Choose the country and language you want to search in.
- Click Search.
The system will start collecting data to list media outlets that influence AI-generated answers on this topic of interest. After a few moments, you will see a dashboard with a list of the top outlets and key metrics that describe their impact on LLMs.
What kind of data does the AI-Cited Media provide?
The AI-Cited Media dashboard shows the following metrics:
- AI Trust – measures (1-100) the likelihood of a given media outlet appearing in LLM-generated answers for a specific topic, language, and location.
- Collective AI Media Impact – measures the overall impact all the media outlets you’ve picked have on LLM answers for a specific topic, language, and location.
How to check Collective AI Media Impact
- Tick the boxes next to your chosen outlets.
- Take a look at the graph on the right side — what’s the percentage? Does it say Low or High?
- If you want to deselect an outlet, just untick the box next to it.
You can select, deselect, and reselect any media outlet you like at any point in time.
Note: less is more. It is better to pitch fewer, more impactful outlets with a more polished story than mass email obscure outlets with low visibility.
What are Recommended Outlets?
Recommended outlets are the ones with the strongest influence on AI answers in your topic of interest. They are suggested automatically, calculated in percentage points.
What do the metrics tell you: which outlets should you choose?
Your goal should be to choose the optimal number of outlets with high AI Trust and high Collective AI Media Impact.
Note: it’s not always best to have the highest percentage of Collective AI Media Impact. The tool will suggest the optimal number of outlets to select.
Next, the system will recommend the best contributing journalists with the reasoning behind this recommendation.
Finding the right journalists
- Click the View contributing journalists button under the Collective AI Media Impact graph. The system will search the Media Database to find journalists who write for your selected media outlets.
- Under each person, you can view their most recent relevant publication or click View full profile to open more details.
- Add the journalist you’re interested in to your lists. To do that, click Add to list.
Note: If you want to add multiple journalists to one list at the same time, just multiselect by ticking the boxes next to their names.
Want to rethink your media outlet choice? Click Change outlets to go back to the outlet list.
